I’m Getting Sick of "Experts"

Updated: Oct 27

Can't stop the madness.

More than 1,000 so-called "experts" (or rather, out-of-touch nutjobs) have banded together to call for a pause in the development of AI (for six months in particular).

Sorry, "experts", but it is far, FAR too late to call for such an action.

Make no mistake, Pandora's box is open. It's been open. Civilians already have access to plenty of open-source AI generators to run and train on their own machines at home.

The "experts" prove once again that they are out-of-touch imbeciles who are far better at spreading misinformation and fear than anything else. Their expertise is nothing more than narcissism and rabble-rousing, most of the time.

Such a short-sighted and immature collective letter will not help. You cannot stop the madness. While you sit there writing up your scary words to deter progress, someone elsewhere is making a beeline towards the finish line. You're just too high on your horse to see it.

That "someone" being the lowly domestics you so nonchalantly overlook, and our (America's) overseas adversaries with whom you are more than likely making handsome deals with.

If experts have been good at one thing over the past century, it's scaring people. It's not just in the AI sector, it's everywhere. Climate change is an obligatory mention - every month I see another article telling us "Humanity has passed the point of no return!!!"

...but every other month you see warnings that humanity is "running out of time" to change our ways in regard to pollution. Which is it? Apparently, we're having an apocalypse every week, according to "experts".

Take a look back over the past decades. The Y2K bug, where computer and media "experts" predicted that a software glitch would cause widespread chaos and disruption at the turn of the century. They claimed that computers would malfunction, planes would crash, banks would collapse, and power grids would fail. They urged people to prepare for the worst by stockpiling food and water.

What happened? Nothing to that extreme, that is for sure.

Then there's the whole "video games cause violence" schtick. There're still some "experts" out there, arguing that video games desensitize people and influence them to commit real-life crimes.

What good are these so-called "experts"⸮

Well, there is no good. They don't do it for charity. They are self-serving. They are causing generations to have their will to live sucked out of them over an apocalypse that will never come. They want to set the stage to maximize profit off misery, naivety, and hope.

These are people who want you to turn off your will, and to hate yourself so that they can rule over you.

They don't give a damn about the Earth or the people who live in it. Not truly.
